The Caterpillars Arrive

Last Friday, I ordered caterpillars from Insect Lore. I visited the websites of several different companies, but most only mailed you a redeemable certificate for caterpillars. I only had a week and a half to get the caterpillars, so I went with Insect Lore, who gave the option of shipping live caterpillars.

They ship you five larvae, but warn that only some may survive the trip. However, I received five healthy, hungry caterpillars. They shipped very quickly, and I received them this past Tuesday. My fear, however, is that they'll cocoon before the students see them this Wednesday. So I'm taking pictures of them and creating my own caterpillar log. And, just for the fun of it, I set up a caterpillar webcam. I admit, it's a pretty over-the-top idea, but video footage does the caterpillars better credit than still photographs. (They are active little critters.)

So feel free to eavesdrop on the lives of my caterpillars until Wednesday, when I take them into kindergarten. Hungry Caterpillars Webcam.
